Day 02 (Saturday, October 02)

距離/Walked: 37,5 km 期間/Time 10:22 h
合計/Total: 75 km

The second day. Bright sunshine, blue sky, and again around 28 degrees.

The first night in the tent ensues no problems at all, only going to the loo is more complicated. I realized that I take around 30 minutes to pack everything back into my luggage in case I sleep in the tent.

Up to the temple 88, there are two mighty mountains to conquer. At the temple, where I waited in a long queue outside the office five years ago, a single pilgrim gets lost - me.

Everyone complains about Corona, it has ruined their business.

The Nyotai peak behind Temple 88 robs me of all my strength. The Japanese call it "the summit of the (young?) women. Nothing of interest for an old man like me.

Quite exhausted, I stumble down the path to the pilgrimage centre. Here too, yawning emptiness.

For lunch I have the most expensive hamburger I think I have ever eaten (1,000 yen) which makes me worry about my travel budget.

At the memorial for pilgrims who died on their journey, there is no more room for me, There are already enough victims on the board.

The rest of the day can be quickly summarized: Takamatsu, capital city of Kagawa, comes into view and with it, also terrible traffic. Temples 87 and 86 are now Checked off my list. I pitch the tent in front of Sanuki town hall, and Hopefully won’t get a visit from the mayor.

My shoulders hurt!
